A 6U modular panel with conical nosepoke, I/R sensor, tri color stimulus and optional liquid delivery.
This unique Lafayette Instrument Company nose poke was designed specifically for animals with head-stages, and for other special-purpose applications, with a conical opening and extra large area of plastic around the opening. It may, however, be used any time you need to deliver a liquid reward at the nose poke instead of at a separate receptacle or tray. It is attached to a standard 6U modular panel for installation in any Rat Modular Test Chamber. It features a reliable photo beam detector to signal when a subject enters the nose poke environment. The stimulus presentation feature requires three control lines, and is best used with an interface and software control. There are two modes of operation. In the first mode, it is possible to present a yellow, green or red stimulus light of high or low intensity. In the second mode, a yellow-only stimulus light can be presented in a ramp or flicker fashion at frequencies of 1Hz, 5Hz or 10Hz. The 6 pin modular connector simplifies contact with three sequential outputs in either the 81408 or 81409 I/O Connection Block for the stimulus light control.
In addition, the 80117RM has an oversized plastic surround and specially designed conical hole with 1" (2.54cm) opening tapered at 60 degrees for animals with head stages. A provision for liquid delivery at the back of the nose poke is also provided. The center of the photo beam detector is placed 0.25" (6.35mm) back from the front of the nose poke block. A separate cable is used for the response inputs (NO and NC).
Power: +28VDC input
Photocell Output: Active low (NO and NC)
Computer control: 3 bit word (active low (Logic 0) turns each control line ON)
